Control board, no problem. If the output of your existing drive is compatible with the rated current of the NEMA 34 motors then no problem.
Quick question for anyone with experience on nema 34 steppers....Can I run a 34 on the same driver and control board (in theory anyway) that I've been running my 23's on ?

Yes, I do that (use controllers originally purchased for NEMA 23's with NEMA 34's on the one machine) I did look hard at the current consumption though!

As others mentioned, control board will be fine, but if your driver is sized for a NEMA 23, it probably will not be ideal for a NEMA 34 motor. Most are rated for higher current and have higher inductance, so need higher voltage to run well at higher RPM's.
