hi, lots of problems I think. ok so today I installed mach3 on a 32bit PC. connected the CNC4YOU HG08 breakout board to the pc vie the printer cable. wired up the stepper driver as per the wiring diagram shown within CNC4YOU web site. wired up the stepper motor from the same site. connected the power unit. set the ports and pins etc as per the web site. this is what I am getting. On the HG08 board I have two red LED lights showing. ( I have know idea if this is good or bad as there is nothing in the manual about the colour of the LED,s). I have a green LED solid on the stepper driver and below it a flashing LED. there is no movement at the motor. what am I doing wrong here.
what checks do I need to do to make this work. thanks, michael
Hi Terry when you power on the stepper motor drivers ,do your motors become hard to turn? If not then your drivers aren’t active... also check if your port address is correct on ports and pins for you parallel port (pci) unit in your pc
thanks chaps i found the fault. the del pc as a password for the bios for some reason. this stopped the port being used. as its getting harder to find older computers these days I have purchased a second CS-labs motion controller and moved away from using printer ports completely. thanks again for your help.
I’m glad u found the problem, is the HG08 bob resistant to electro magnetic interference (emi)? Iv built a Cnc gantry plasma and I’m having emi issues, do u knw if this bob will suitable for my setup?
Hi, the HG08 bob is good as unlike many on the market there is lots of wiring detail. I have used the breakout boards on both two milling machines with know problems, but I always inclosed the breakout board,stepper drives etc in a network cabinet, both for protection and to cut down on interverance. The router I have now I have the cnc control in the case underneath the bed. The spindle power controller is as far away from the case as I can get it. I have now two HG08 that I don’t need if anyone is interested I am open to offers.and one power supply for the Bob, drivers etc
