    Unhappy 4 axis tb6560 with mach3 and stepper motors 23

    hi , i tried to build my first cnc machine , i am using tb6560 4 axis ( blue board ) with mach3 and stepper motors nema 23 .. the problems is that i burned ic twice i don't know why!! , i applied 23 volt on board, if pins configuration are wrong this make ic burn ?

    also how can i know the motors are locked up ?

    anyone help pls

    People often have problems with these ultra-cheap driver boards. You can find many more sad stories about them on this site. There's also a (very long) thread started by someone who managed to fix his board - you might find it interesting: https://www.cnczone.com/forums/gener...-software.html

    But the easiest solution would be to spend more money and buy better drivers and a breakout board that actually works.

    okay agree with u but i think the problem is not in board it is in software , if someone know the correct pins configuration and how to check the connection between pc , board and motors it will be good because when i turn on the board with motors and pc, only the leds in board for power are turned on ( two) but other leds for motors are turned off

    which 4 axis tb6560 board do you have ?
    a link to the advert and the manual for your board will help

    different versions of the board may not have assigned the same functions to the printer port pins
    errors with the pin assignments in software will only stop the board working as expected
    and will not damage the board

    what stepper motors do you have ?
    some kits have motors with too much inductance to use with a 24V power supply

    the maximum operating voltage for the tb6560 IC is 34V

    some kits are supplied with a 36V power supply that makes it very likely the board will fail after a short time

    If your using the correct supply voltage
    the only way to damage the board is either incorrectly wiring the motor or disconnecting / connecting the motor with the power on

    the LED's you made ref to in post 3 indicate the logic level on the step inputs
    if the step pin is normally at a logic 0 the LED will be off
    as you step the motor the LED will be on when the step pin is at a logic 1 (+5V)

    at slow speeds you may not see the LED is on
    the LED will be brighter as the step rate is increased

    (alternatively if you set the step pin to active LOW instead of active HIGH the LED will be on and dim as you twep the mptor )

    i am using tb6560 4 axis (blue board) and stepper motors nema23 with power supply 24V-15A , i did the instructions in user manual file but nothing happen, the leds turn on only when i push on x- and turn off when i push x+ (on mach3) without any movement ,i made step motors output active low

    blue tb6560 4 axis board is not enough detail can you post a photo and / or link to a pdf copy of the manual ?

    newer " blue boards " have a micro controller and switch mode voltage regulators instead of the linear regulators on the original boards

    nema23 only gives the physical size of the motor
    if you can post the part number or electrical specification - coil resistance , voltage , inductance

    • Can you turn the motor by hand when you are not jogging?
    • Is it harder to turn the motor by hand when you are jogging?
    • Disconnect the motor, turn the motor by hand, short 2 wires, turn the motor by hand, if it is harder to turn, you have found a pair of wires, if not, try one of the other two wires until you found a pair. Connect the pair of wires found to A+ and A- and the other two wires to B+ and B-.
    • Set the step pulse delay in Mach to 100 ms. Some boards are designed totally wrong and need this kind of long delays to work. I have bought one of these from Wantai

    What ic did you burn?
    * one motor only i cannot turn while jogging
    * i checked the coil by voltmeter and knew two A wires and B wires
    A+(black) A-(green) B+(red) B-(blue)

    * where can i change step pulse delay ?
    * what are 4 leds inductors in the board refer to ?

    Check this video on tuning stepper drivers. In the same setup screen you can set the step pulse width

    thanks for all of u for your time i appreciate it

    so i set pins configuration motors output , enable, estop , step pulse ...etc

    but motors still donnot move but make a sound !
    i measured volt on motors wire i found between 4 and 6 volt so what should i do ?

    an audible sound from the motors is to be expected
    the TB6560 stepper driver IC controls the motor current by switching the motor current on & off at about 1000 Hz on some boards
    the frequency depends to some extent on the inductance of the motor

    the 4 and 6 volts you measured is unlikely to be correct due to the complex shape of the AC voltage across the motor coils
    once you have the motor data you may find the motor voltage is about 2 to 3V

    most meters your likely to buy average the voltage being measured and are only calibrated to be correct for sinousoidal volatages like the 50 or 60 Hz mains supply

    ( not many are going £500 on a Fluke meter

    did you find the part number for the steppermotors ?
    unless you can down load the data sheet for the motors or the instructions for a cnc kit gives you the motor current you need to set the stepper driver to

    you could either set the current too low so the motor torque is too low to move or
    you set it too high and the motor over heats ( more than 70 to 80 C)

    75% for current
    25% decay mode
    1/2 microsteps

    75% of 3.5A is close enough to the 2.8A for the motor

    looking at the diagram I added to post 14 and the TB6560 data sheet

    the axis activity LED's should be bright and dim the faster step pulses are sent to the board
    this means the TB6560 step input pin is normally low and goes high (+5V) at the start of the step pulse

    if the enable sent to the board is correct, it should be difficult to manualy turn the motor spindle

    what happens if you unplug the printer cable ?
    I expect the axis activity LED's will be off and the driver will be enabled so it will be difficult to turn the motor spindle

    * leds turn on when i connect power but i can move motors by hand ,the motors locked up only when i push reset button ( motors are active low) and when i measure voltage for one motor one coil give me 2.4 volt but second coil give me 6.3 volt and sound !! but still no movement for motors

    * how can i control output voltage for motors although dip switch current is 75% (2.8 A)
