    No, backlash is off. I found that if I slow the velocity down to 20 and up the steps to 10 I regain the torque. I'm guessing that the problem must be in the controller. I am hoping I can find the bad component and replace it. Does anyone know what I should be looking for?

    What do you mean by "up the steps"? The steps per unit should be set by the mathematical ratio between the motors, screws and drivers). The Taig controller uses half-steps, but that's fixed and can't be changed by the user. So what are you upping?
