    Default Engraving on a cylinder

Trying to engrave this image/text on a cylinder. What is the best method do to this with? Everything I have tried always seem to have issues and/or I keep crashing Sprutcam.

    Here is my sprut file.

    DF4GRtext.stc

Right click and do "save as" then rename the file .stc instead of .jpg

    Hi,

I was looking around for something that could engrave and came up with this site that has tooling, software and is in Mass.

There software does 4th axis engraving on cylenders , serial numbers imports jpg, bit, dxf, gif, and more and makes the g code..

    Here is the link

I am saving up to get a copy and there spring loaded engraving tool looks interesting..

BTW, the spring loaded engraving tools are not hard to make. Lots of threads around various places about them.

    Cheers,

    Hello compunerdy,
Here is a YouTube video of how to use the Engraving operation in SprutCAM to accomplish your task.

    Live, very cool demo..thanks

I did get it to work after hours of trying different thing. One of the issues I had was when I set the base level at .8125 the N looking letters would get setup with lines wrapping around the part etc. I eventually changed it to .8126 and it all worked fine. I see now from your example that this could have been done 100 times faster lol.

So once again... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

I think the issue was how many decimal points I was using so it was causing it to round.

Is it possible to use Sprutcam to engrave on a sphere, like what you might find on a gear shift knob?

Thanks, perfect! Is there any way to use sprutcam to project text onto a surface/sphere like you have in that tutorial?
