The slow speed may be due to a frequency setting in the VFD.
Last step to get my new cnc going is to wire the water cooled spindle and have been unable to do so. The spindle including the water pump are connected to one 120VAC power supply and they are working manually but I cant get them to be controlled by Mach3.
I have a Chinese BOB with 1 relay. The attached picture show on the left part of the BOB with the connections marked 1-4 for easier identification. On the right are the VFD connections and have tried various wiring combinations with no success.
Since the BOB has 5VDC control I have changed the VFD parameter PD070 to 1 but when I start the VFD the spindle comes ON right away but at very slow RPM (about 2K) and no mater what I do in Mach3 has no affect. To turn the spindle OFF I have to shut OFF the VFD
Can someone tell me to correct wiring based on the attached picture?

I have set parameters PD003-005 + PD072 to 400Hz so the slow speed is not related to VFD settings in my opinion

DCM is a (Common) to a FOR ( forward) through a switch or a relay would be on/off .
ACM (Ground) and VI would be speed control … double check your manual.
And check the settings on VFD for polarity and voltage 0-5 or 0-10V , on some VFD this controls needs to be activated in settings…
FA and FB looks like dry contacts of internal relays for whatever ( fan, dust collector etc., they are low amps to control…)

Can you check the attached VFD parameters for any mistakes?
When I switch PD001 and 002 to operators the Spindle works perfect but when I have the same parameters to external command spindle doesn't work in Mach3. The spindle light in Mach3 blinks and the diagnostic screen shows the light blinking for Output2. This is strange cause in the outputs screen I have selected Output 1 enabled, Port1, Pin number 17.
I connected the wiring between the spindle and BOB as per post #6 from Vlod and as I mentioned the spindle works good from the VFD panel. I must be doing something wrong with the Mach3 settings

I would trouble shoot it in steps.
First. Check that you selected the pins and ports as the BOB specs recommends (some of them are not interchangeable as they are hardwired)
Then leave the speed control on VFD and focus on your BOB on/off Relay that operates from Mach3.
It might have a Led light when it is on but most of the time you would hear it clicks.
Check if you assign it to right port in Mach3 spindle settings.
There are bunch of YouTube videos on Mach3 spindle settings…
When you get that working then focus on speed control.
If you selected output1 in ports and pins settings but in spindle settings selection is #2. I don’t think it would work.
Check that jumper for the relay.
If you used mach3 config file from BOB CD disable all inputs and outputs that you don’t use.

I don't think is a config problem but rather a wiring one. I have a wiring schematic from a previous cnc where I used the G540. From the G540 I have 4 connections to VFD which is identical to the one I have now (VFD and Spindle),
G540 PINS #
#5 is an output and goes to FOR terminal on the VFD
#7 is GND and goes to the ACM terminal on the VFD
#8 is Vout and goes to the VI terminal on the VFD
#9 is +10V and goes to the VR(+10V) on the VFD
Another item is that the VFD has its own internal relays and doesn't need external relays to start the spindle but needs only wiring from the bob to control the speed
In any case I will try again what you say and hope for the best. Soon or later I will get it going and post the results

G540 Controller is different from your BOB. It uses different method to control 0-10V speed voltage.
It takes ground #7 and +10V #9 from VFD and sends it back to VFD #8 as needed by speed settings.
BOB that you have has its own voltage to control VFD speed .
#12 (you didn’t mention) takes common (DCM) from VFD and connects it to back #5 to VFD (FOR)ward to allow start/stop of VFD.
Vfd needs a command to start or stop and the simple way to do it is directly switch DCM to FORward through BOB relay.
Internal relays of VFD usually use for a fan to cool enclosure or a water pump to cool the spindle or a flushing lights you set them up to follow the spindle run.
Internal relays on VFD have dry contacts.
I guess one can utilise them to be start/stop if VFD has an option of following increases of 0=10V of speed.

I have found some more wiring possibilities from my notes and hopefully tomorrow I should be able to find the right wiring connections to have Mach3 controlling the spindle.

I think you are doing good.
On BOB relay you are using NO dry sets of contacts so it doesn’t matter.
On VFD settings I cannot help you. Some of them so confusing…
But I would change accelerating time to lower 3 or 4 seconds unless you have bigger motor…

Thanks Vlod but I had no success with my wiring, Mach3 doesn't see the VFD and so I will search for another bob. The users guide of the bob I have is useless, I got the stepper motors, probe and all limits working but had no luck with the VFD/Spindle.

Thanks chopper1 for the help, I did try the wiring as shown among other combinations and it didn't work for me. Now I removed this bob and installed another one I have with 3 relays and will start the wiring on it. Hopefully I will have a better success!

I don't do speed control through Mach3. Find it easier to adjust via the control knob than fumble around with the software and mouse. Hand eye coordination not great at times when a knob is a knob taking little insight to use!
Is that the V2.1-L Bob, the wiring is the same which would leave to possiblities, faulty Bob or incorrect parameters for the VFD. I use the HY VFD as well but a different model 2.2Kw and 240 Volt. I'm using the settings mastec45 sent me from the thread I listed before.
The picture looks like genuine but I know the parameters are different if it happens to be a HY knock off, HY turn a blind eye to knock off's of their products.

I do the opposite mate, I let Mach3 do all the work from start to finish. I have no idea what kind is my Bob, all I know it is Chinese. The parameters are also from Mastec who gave them to me a few years back when I had the same VFD/Spindle set.
I bought the set of VFD/Spindle from sales@bstautomation.com (excellent service in English) and they were shipped from HY factory. I can tell and see the difference because the previous set was knock offs.
