Parameters Needed, HUANYANG HY01D523B, 1.5kw spindle

VFD is HUANYANG HY01D523B 220v 1p or 3p input.
Spindle is "Zhong Hua Jiang" 65*208 1.5kw 220v 8A 400HZ air cooled.

Would anyone have a good parameter setup list for this combination, everything I find is for a 120v input or is conflicting.
I have powered up the VFD and it seems fine but have not connected the spindle. I know there are a few parameters involving the HZ that are critical to keeping the smoke in and I want to be sure.
I see that the VFD is rated 7amp output and the spindle is 8amp, but both are 1.5kw, is this a problem?

I will be using this with MACH3 parallel port to a GECKO G540 to control start, stop and maybe speed control with 0~10v from the G540.

Have you wired the VFD Drive correct, this drive requires R / T Terminals Plus Ground connected for the input power connection.

Have you checked the 4th spindle Plug pin to see if it has continuity to the spindle body?

The spindle if it is 8A then the VFD Drive is incorrect size and you would need the 2.2Kw VFD Drive, the 1.5Kw spindle should be a max of 7A so this leaves your VFD Drive still undersize for the job, being a Huanyang it will most likely work just fine, your spindle has no minimum speed in the specs so we have to guess what this Parameter needs to be and adjust accordingly to the motor temperature.

This is an Amazon pic of the 110v model, It's identical to what I have except for the voltage. In the AD it is listed as 5000~24000 RPM, does 5000 sound to slow for proper cooling?

The water cooled spindles had specs of 6000 to 24000 range which is close to what they list of 5K to 24K

yes, the minimum speed for a water cooled is 6,000 RPM most don't go below 7200 RPM for water cooled as there is not much torque at that speed, Air cooled are normally higher because of the air cooling.

Your spindle Ground does not sound correct, there is some fasteners that hold the plastic cap on, the ground wire can be attached at this point and must go to the Plugs 4th Pin, this then with the correct 4 wire Shielded cable carry the Ground from the spindle to the VFD Drive Ground or to a Ground Bus in your cabinet

You fasten a Ground ring crimp fitting, with a stud and nut, using one of the mounting holes for the plastic cap, you have to remove a some of the plastic cap to give the Ground clamping nut some clearance.

Grounding must be done correctly, if your spindle has a 3-Pin connector it will have to be changed to a 4-pin connector.

I guess that will work, not ideal, as it may emit EMI all of these connections need to be as short as possible to help with EMI having everything inside helps.

As for the RPM I have heard of some Air-Cooled Spindles being used at the same 7200 RPM (120Hz) as the Water-Cooled spindles so it is just a matter of trying it to see if it can go that low and not over heat.

Can you provide the safe parameters for this VFD and motor combo so I can bench test it. The ones that should be set and forget.

I've never used a Huanyan drive before. My VFD main experience is with AB Powerflex drives, but 400hz motors is new to me

This should get you going, remember the cable from the VFD Drive to the Spindle needs to be a quality VFD rated cable, 4-wire Shielded, the shield also has to be correctly terminated.

This is a suitable cable made by IGUS, both of these cable sizes will work with your spindle, if it is a long cable over (3' / 1m) use the CF6-10-04

I recommend that you use an EMI Power Filter this would be mounted close to the input Power connections of the VFD Drive

I finally got a chance to work on this today, Some of the parameters were already set so I did a PD013=8 reset, then loaded the ones you provided. It started up and seems to be running fine from the VFD panel.

Now a question, The amps on the VFD display shows A000.5, I see that as 0.5 amp, it sometimes hits 0.6 when accelerating. Is it normal to be this low?
Its on the bench with no load on the motor but I would expect to see 2~3A or more with no load.

I found the TDK Lambda RSEN2030L on mouser.com for $35 shipped. Does this sound about the right price or is there a better place to buy from?

For Amps you x that by 3 so you were at 1.5 amps with no load would be right

The EMI Filters are normally around $25 to $27 so with shipping that would be about right, this is a quality Filter, so they are quite cheap for what they are, this must be installed correct as well so when you get it we can talk again.
