    Default Spindle Speed Variation

speed shown on VFD display does not match that set on UCCNC.

    • UCCNC set to 6,000 RPM - VFD Display fluctuates constantly from 10,300 up to 10,900 then down. ( Analog voltage on board 2.62V)
    • UCCNC set to 12,000 RPM - VFD Display fluctuates constantly from 14,200 up to 15,200 then down. ( Analog voltage on board 4.87V)
    • UCCNC set to 24,000 RPM - VFD Display without fluctuation 22,812 ( Analog voltage on board 9.33V)

The 10V supply from the VDF reads out 9.97V at the controller board (UB1), so did a little experiment and provided 10.2V by independent PS. This didn't really helped.

    • UCCNC set to 24,000 RPM - VFD Display without fluctuation 23,028 ( Analog voltage on board 9.46V)

    The VFD I have is
    HY02D223B coupled to a 400Hz spindle 220v - 2.2W water cooled.

    PD settings on the VFD:
Jumper set on connection 1 & 2 for remote terminal control
    PD001 1
    PD002 1
    PD003 400
    PD004 400
    PD005 400
    PD007 20
    PD008 220
    PD009 15
    PD010 11
    PD011 100
    PD014 10
    PD015 10
    PD041 8
    PD052 1
    PD070 0
    PD072 400
    PD073 100
    PD120 100
    PD141 220
    PD142 9
    PD143 2
    PD144 3000

What could be causing this variation in speeds?

    Thanks in advance!

What is your PD 071 (Analog Filtering) set to? Try increasing it.

    PD 071=20
Tried 30,35,40,50 and no real change, issue remains.

I also tried having a dedicated shielded cable for the 10v, 0v, and analog signal from controller board to vfd but issue remains. Thought it was a noise issue because of how the speed increases then decreases then increases and so on.

I checked the settings on UCCNC for the PWM frequency and was set to 400 hz while the manual for the bob (ub1) recommeneded 1524 hz so I used this value. This change helped getting ride of the variable speeds. When set to 12,000 on uccnc, vfd now reads 15144 then goes up to 15 162rmp for a second then down to 15 144. This small variation is acceptable but how can i tweak the settings to get 12 000 rpm at the vfd when that value is set on uccnc?

How many Amps is your 240v supply to the VFD Drive

You first have to correct the 0-10v Analog output at the Board level before you do anything with the VFD Drive, 1524hz does not sound correct for the PWM to Analog 0-10v normally 100Hz is what is used

Hello. Did you ever figure this out?
I'm having the same issue and was hoping for a pointer...

I'm starting to believe its a bad VFD, but everything is running as it should other then the speed.
Local control, the speed is steady as a rock. Remotely, its fluctuating nearly 2,000rpms.
    Thanks

How do you have everything wired, what is the output from your Breakout Board you need to have the 0-10v working correct before connecting to the VFD Drive

    Hi Mac, thanks.
I have some new cabling coming and will tidy up my wiring a little better.
I'm currently using two shielded 18/4 cables. One dedicated to relay, one dedicated to speeds.
    My VFD outputs 9.98v

From your pointers above, I'll try changing some of the settings.
Particularly, PD71 and the frequency setting to 100hz.

Do you have the shields clamped to the Ground Plane, any unused wires in a cable have to be Grounded at both ends or you can have interference problems, so you would be better to use just the (1) cable and correctly terminate the Shield, a P-Clip is better than a saddle which you can make yourself, but must clamp tight around the shield

PD071 is a Filter and does not have anything to do with 100Hz setting it has a setting range from 0-50 and changes the response time
The setting of this parameter is related to the analog responding speed. The higher the value of PD071 is set, the lower the analog responding speed will be. default is 20 and is not normally needed to be changed
