Default 3kw Air Cooled spindle with Huanyang VFD...am I expecting too much?

So I ordered this set-up from Amazon.ca. Came in looked good. Finally over the Christmas break I hooked it up on my CamTech CNC router. I replaced a Freud2000 3.25hp plunge router. Now the test. I put in my 2" flattening bit into the ER20 collet and clamped down a piece of hard maple. I wanted to take a full 2" wide cut at 0.1" deep. Hand jogged into the wood at about 60ipm. The spindle just stalled. I know my Freud router would have done the cut. So did I just buy a weak spindle? Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks

    Kevin

Is it set for V/Hz or as is should be, Sensor-less vector mode?

The standard Huanyang is not a vector control VFD Drive and most Vector control drives do do not work for these 400Hz spindles so would not make any difference if you had it or not

A 2" cutter is a tall order for any spindle what Parameters have you set ??

What RPM where you running at ??

    Hi Mactec54,

I have tried at full rpm as well as from 50% up. I did make some changes to pd145(auto torque compensation) and pd147(motor slip compensation).

With these 2 set to about 75% i can cut the full width 2" @ .1 dp. but only at about 60ipm.

Doing a test now with a V-carve to see how it handles that...but i don't think it will have a problem with it.

I have until Jan 31, 2021 to return the VFD or spindle. Not sure I won't yet as i feel a good wood router will be stronger.

A good wood router is not even close

That is why I asked what Parameters you have set, as this is important if they are not set correct you will damage the VFD Drive or the spindle, and that won't be the fault of who you brought it from
