I am trying to break a 3kw 24000rpm 800hz spindle motor with a vfd and breaking resistor but the breaking resistor does not do much good, it takes about 10s to stop the spindle both with and without resistor.
The only difference is that with the resistor the vfd does not report an error of over voltage during breaking so apparently its working somewhat.
We have tried from 25ohm to 150ohm without any aparent difference.
Could it be that the high frequency does not work well with the resistors? that the impendance in the resistor is to high to work with high frequencies?
The VFD counts down to zero in 1-2s or whatever I set the decceleration parameter to and then the breaking resistor slowly break the motor to zero.
