    Default Spindle stopped during milling YL-620 2.2kW spindle

    So my spindle stopped during milling last night. It had been running for 2 hour straight.
    Both the spindle and the VFD is new from China.

    I couldnt feel any heat from the spindle, or abnormal smell from either the VFD or the spindle.

    The VFD shows Error 4 which I understand is a normal error on these VFD's
    The error shows when I press Run on the VFD panel. The error will also show if the VFD and the pindle is disconnected and I press run.

    I measure 2.9ohms between all the spindle pins except for ground.

    Anyone have an Idea of what I should do next?
    Is the spindle probably ok?

    It says:
    IPM alarm (short circuit)

    Description (from the manual):
    When the motor is running, fault in the internal power component module of the converter occurs:
    1. The accelleration and deceleration is set too short:
    2. The overcurrent and overheating of the converter, please check wheter the motor is shortcircuited, and the machine load is to high;
    3. The input voltage is too high/too low, or the input voltage fluctuates substansially.
    4. The converter does not match the motor power, or fault in Wye-delta.
    5. Improper setting of DC injection brake parameters (P01.09-P01.17):
    6. Improper setting of VF parameters (P00.04-P00.12)
    7.The cooling fan is damaged or in locked rotor, the converter cooling is not good;
    8. Gate driving voltage of components is too high or too low, which need repairing.

    Hi,
    well that just about covers every possible fault God and Man ever created!

    I would guess that the VFD is faulty....but how to prove it.

    Is it covered by warranty?

    I also guess its the VFD since its been starting stopping and running perfectly until it suddenly failed in its ~third hour of use.
    I guess there is no warranty, but Ill probably will be able to get some money back via aliexpress.

    If anyone has an idea of what could cause this and a fix it is appreciated.

    What voltage are you using for input Voltage to the VFD Drive ????

    These VFD Drives are not very good and would not buy one even though there are a lot of them out there most have some kind of problem with them

    Er04 IPM Fault the drive has failed and needs to be repaired

    Have to look at what has caused it to fail wiring or Parameter settings

    Hi,
    I think you should consider a better quality VFD.

    Hitachi have a pretty good reputation. I've had a lot of success with Delta. Taiwanese brand, manufactured in China. Have been making VFD's, servos/drives
    for years, quality at a fair price......similar price to Hitachi.
