    Default spindle speed not changing

    need some help with Chinese VFD also using MX 4660 and smooth stepper and Mach 3
    i've double check the wiring everything is correct but I'm having trouble with the settings and Mach 3
    if anybody be willing to work with me to get this figured out because I am pulling hair
    when I start the spindle it runs 7174 but I can't change the speed at all

    thanks much

    First you have to check 0-10v is working from the Breakout Board and this changes with the M3S12000 should be 5v

    VFD is a Haunyang model HY03D023B 3ph 3.0KW 13A

    controller is a MX4660 when I tested from this unit 0-10v after I run M3 s18000 I got no reading what so ever using my volt meter going to ground. When I did the test I did not have the VFD on if that makes a difference

    So you have to look at the configuration of the controller MX4660 you have to get this part working before looking at the VFD Drive

    Did you supply the 10v / 12v to the MX4660 for the PWM output of 0-10V

    so I changed the wiring from the VFD to the MX4660 per the instruction from Leadshine manual and the spindle starts and is running at about 15000rpm no matter if I input a speed or just start the spindle
    an I get 1.1 volts across port "+10vdc in" and the GND and still can not changed the speed in mach 3

    answer your last question is yes

    PD001=1

    Mach3 can be tricky to get right which seems to be where your problem is, if you have no voltage change then something in the Ports and Pins may need to be changed

    All your basic settings look ok

    PD144 should be 3000 for it to work correct

    Jumper J1 set to 1-2

    PD044=02 default this is not normally changed

    PD174= ??? ( To Be Set to the VFD Drives Max Rated Output Amps )

    Jumper J1 in on 1-2
    I will check PD044 and change it to 2
    I will also check PD174 and set it to the correct amp of the motor not sure were it is at this time
    be back at it tomorrow afternoon doctors apt in morning
    Thanks for your help so far
    fyi I'm getting PWM errors also

    Later

    PD144=3000 not 2000 this should get you to your spindle max 18,000RPM with KeyPad control

    If you are getting a PWM errors then you need to look at your wiring there could be a problem how you have this connected

    I changed the Pd144 to 3000 and running it with keypad it ran at 17952 close enough for me
    the slowest I could get the Spindle to run is 9000 using my hand held. Digital Tachometer

    the PD174 was at 11.0 and I could not change it to any thing else
    I contacted Leadshine and he stated that The PIN14 of DB25 is used for PWM signal transmission and to Configure pin14 for spindle control so that leaves me to these pic
    I also was correct with the wiring per Leadshine

    Ok I see another Parameter problem with the minimum speed is your spindle air cooled or water cooled ???

    PD011=120

    What is the Breakout Board you are using

    It is air cooled
    the breakout board is a Lendshine MX4660
    I will check on PD011

    PD011=120

    I did some research and found that one other user of the MX4660 was testing his Estop button and the MX failed so they replace the unit and he installed a jumper on the to E-stop ports and he never connected the button again.

    Ok I will look at the manual

    So what I found was they are using the 12v supply from the MX4660 to power the 10v supply, not the 10v supply from the VFD Drive

    (1) Used MACH3, settings: PWM Base Freq. = 10, Minimum PWM = 0%,

    (2) Used “+12Vdc Out”, the 12VDC auxiliary power output on the MX4660 as the power input for “+10Vdc in” of the VFD (The measured value of the “+12VDC auxiliary power output of the MX4660” was?11.98VDC.).

    Hay Thanks for all your info (HELP) but I'm going with a RS485 connection instead of using the MX4660 for spindle control. It will do what I want it to do, at least that what he said on the CNCnutz Episode 147
    and I only need one twisted pair of wires from the RS485 to the VFD do some config on each of the units and I should be up and running. I will only use the MX4660 for the Axis.

    The RS485 should be here on Friday. I will down load the Plugin from this web site https://www.cncnutz.com/2017/05/mach...trol-with.html. This plugin is only use for the Huanyang inverter
    I will let you know how it turns out

    Yes this is the way to go when all else gets to be a problem, I did see some strange settings you have in Mach3 Ports and Pins which could of been where your problems are there are a few Modbus connections that work well with your VFD Drive
