    Default WJ200 High Frequency Mode

I have a 2.2KW WJ200. I swapped my 2 pole spindle for a 4 pole spindle and need to put my WJ200 into high frequency mode. Standard mode goes to 400hz, which only gets me 12K RPM on the new spindle, but my spindle is rated to 24K RPM. I fought with the VFD for hours yesterday, tried following the manual multiple times but can't get it into high frequency mode. I have the software to plug into the VFD and use it to change parameters. But nothing I did seemed to work. I already unlocked all the settings using B037 and B031.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or who to contact to get help? The vendor I bought the VFD has never responded to any email I've ever sent them.

There isn't a high frequency mode. The vfd operates from your motor settings input. Verify the following settings with your motor data. a004, a003, a082, a044, b012, h003, h004.

What motor are you seeing up?

Ok, well if it doesn't have it, that explains why I can't figure out how to enable it. But why would the manual for the WJ200 say it does have it?

    The motor is a custom spindle from Jian-ken. 100mm spindle, 3KW, 4 pole, 220V.

Maybe I wasn't clear, the vfd will drive the high frequency motor. I run a 24k rpm motor on the drive. I meant there isn't a setting that "switches" it to high frequency.
If it is a std WJ200 then 400Hz is max. With a four pole you need 800Hz for 24k rpm. I have heard you can by a custom WJ200 that goes to 800Hz, but can't confirm.
With the std drive you are locked in at 12k rpm.

    Just got these, values are:

    A004: 400.0
    A003: 400.0
    A082: 220
    A044: 00
    B012: 11.0
    H003: 3.0
    H004: 4

The VFD will not let me change A003 or A004 above 400.0

That 2.2KW WJ200 might be a bit light for a 3KW motor. Although in VT mode it will handle 3.0KW at reduced torque. But it looks like the maximum frequency is 400 HZ which, as you have found, would only give you 12K RPM with a 4 pole motor.

I think I see a new 800 HZ VFD in your future.

Ok, so I was just bought the wrong VFD. Does anybody know what VFD would work with a 3KW spindle and 220V with 800hz? The VFD I have now is 2.2kW and that is enough power, I don't ever run the spindle that hard. So 2.2 or 3.0kw would be ok.

I'm assuming you have only 230V single phase available, with available 3 phase, you have more options.

This one is good to 1000 Hz https://www.wolfautomation.com/ac-dr...3-phase-input/

This one specs out at 599 Hz, but check it's max output current against your motor namplate current https://www.wolfautomation.com/ac-dr...-3-phase-f2-1/

And here is another one. If you're lucky it might actually work when you turn it on, or maybe not. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Ship-5-5...ry!43344!US!-1

If your spindle is 3Kw then your VFD needs to be at least 4Kw if you are using 240v Single Phase 800Hz or 1000Hz to run that spindle at 24,000RPM
