VFD Drive Parameters are not compatible some things don't change and some can be used as a guide, but each manufacture have there own requirement's

Here is a basic list there are more that may need setting to get you going correctly, I will add more as I don't have time right now

P105=400

P106=100

P107=8 ( Adjustable )

P108=8 ( Adjustable )

P109=220

P110=400

P115=6 ( Max 8 )

P202=10

P209=220

P210= ?? ( Spindle Rated Amps )

P212=6000 ( or 24,000 if it will allow it )

P213=2

P215=400

P105 i have at 400
P106 i have at 120 - should I change this to 100?
P109 I have at 220
P110 I have at 400
P115 I have at 5
P202 I have at 10
P209 I have at 220
P210 I have at 5, what it says on the motor 5 amps
P212 I have at 3000 will only go to 9000
P213 I have at 2
P215 I have at 400

At start it says 120, dial fully wound up reads 400

That is fine...so you should hear the motor speed up when it goes from 120 to 400!!

Yep. So the problem starts with the 13000 reading. Is this what the spindle is actually doing? According to what I have read with the current settings the vfd should read it at 24000rpm.

Try and make P212.... 5500 and tell me what the motor speed shows at full open 400Hz

The only problem you having is the display of the speed is not correct....we will now sort it....start with 5500, it might require 6000

It is saying 15500. But there doesn't seem to be any audible difference at this speed. I have a sound app which for now is my only method of checking speed and there isn't any frequency change between the 2 max rpm readings. My ears seem to agree with the app as well.

Go up with P212 till your motor speed reading shows 24000. You wont hear any difference when you change this parameter, the drive only uses this value to calculate a value to display

Also at 120hz p212 at 3000 and 120hz p212 at 5500 the readout is different but again for my ears the spindle sounds exactly the same.

I calculated and maybe try your max setting 9000

I have gone up to what I believe is 14000 and readout is reading 24000. It is confusing because the readout has not enough digits to display 10000+ so when it hits 9999 it goes to zero which is 10000 and the same for 20000,
There is still no audible difference at these speeds, should it not sound different. I know my Kress certainly does at different speeds.
By the way thanks for the help so far too, really appreciate it. Hopefully can get to the bottom of it one way or another.

Once you sort the correct value for P212 then you can change your pot or whatever you using to change the motor speed and you will hear the change and see the motor speed changing to the max of 24000rpm

I can do this but I am not hearing any difference in the motor, I am suspicious that it is even changing speeds. At minimum and maximum the sounds are the same no matter what I change p212 to.

For example at 3000 it says 3900 rpm, at 14000 it says 7200 but the two are identical sounding.

Leave P212 at 14000. How are you adjusting your motor speed?? Do you have a speed pot on the drive?

yep that is how I am changing motor speed after I hit run.

Changing the speed dial will not change P212....It will change P001...set freq, P002....output freq, P004....motor speed and while changing the speed dial/pot you should hear the change in motor speed
