    Shield is not intended to carry the current normally. The potential is applied to the one end of shield as usual. Siled should be connected to the connector body if it is designed so.

    VFD Drive installs the Shield must be connected at Both Ends between the Motor and the VFD Drive this does not apply only to VFD Drive

    In that picture attached, it sure looks like they're telling you not to do that. Am I misunderstanding what they mean by circling the connections at both ends and putting a big red "X" over the whole thing? Or are they trying to tell people to do it with copper cable clamps and not wires?

    In the vast majority of posts I've read on the subject, we've been advised to only ground one end of the braided shield and leave the other end free, to avoid creating ground loops that will cause interference on their own. Is the consensus of the experts here that this isn't sound practice, and we're really supposed to connect both ends, ground loops be damned? Or is this just Mactec's maverick opinion?

    Yes you have a misunderstanding what you are looking at, most have no real understanding of shielding and make there own assement of what they see as correct, just like this snip I posted, which they are just referencing the PIG Tails being used for the connection and the result of using a 360 degree clamp

    You can not create a Ground loop, by doing this, You have a Ground wire for Grounding the 2 pieces of equipment Bonded at each end, as long as this is in place then your Shield has to be Terminated at both ends to have any effect on noise control

    Do you have any understanding of what a Ground loop is ??? or is this just what everyone else says then it has to be correct with no understanding what they are talking about

    I'm not sure if anyone knows but using a VFD Drive on residential Power supply ( Single Phase ) is much worse ( Noise wise ) then in industry that is using 3 Phase Power supply

    Here are some snips from VFD Drive Manufactures on correct shielded cable installation there is lots of information on correct Shield Termination you can do your own search but don't look at YouTube video's, look for manufactures spec's for EMC / EMI compliance
