    The P00 format means nothing if you have a different VFD Drive what is the model number of the VFD Drive

    Just the spindle Amps Drive amps and Voltage that would be different from the above Parameters

    Anyone know of a way to piggyback these vfd's. I'm wanting to mount 4 spindles on my machine and run them all simultaneously. It would sure help if they all turn on with a master.

    What VFD Drive do you have and yes it should be not problem to turn them all on at the same time, could be as simple as one Relay, I guess you are running at a set speed so that could be where there could be problems if you want to control the speeds, if you can set the speed in the drive and just auto turn on then that is quite simple to do

    You can control speed(frequency) via Modbus by assigning each its own modus id.

    Posting an update on my situation.

    First great thread. I got very nice help from mactec54 on a new VFD running my lathe project. Found out a big mistake was to start the motor then put clutch on and had faults. Now starting with the clutch on it works fine.

    I had a VFD on my mill and had a problem with the VFD faulting half the time when I switched it on. Attempted to change to a different VFD and was asking for help on that. THEN I got to thinking about what was wrong with the VFD on my mill. It was that I was starting the VFD first then switching the power on with a switch between the VFD and the motor. Took out the switch and let the VFD run the motor itself and it works fine. Goes to show the VFD should have full control of the motor with no switching between the VFD and motor.

    I am shelving the new VFD for another day, don't need it.

    I know it was dumb to have a switch between the VFD and the motor but that was the problem. Wouldn't have figured that out without this forum and this thread.

    Thank You mactec54

    Looking for some advice I have ordered a Huanyang HY04D023B 4.0kw VFD.
    Would like to make sure the setting i have put together from this very helpful thread look correct.
    My motor is a 2HP 230 volt 3 phase 5.2 amps 60HZ 3480 RPM Supply voltage is 240 single phase.
    PD000= 0
    PD001= 0
    PD002= 0
    PD003= 60
    PD004= 60
    PD005= 60
    PD006= 2.5
    PD007= 10
    PD008= 230
    PD009= 20
    PD010= 8
    PD011= 40
    PD013= 8 for reset only
    PD014= 15
    PD015= 15
    PD141= 230
    PD142= 5.2
    PD143= 4 poles
    PD144= 3000
    PD072= 60
    PD073= 60

    Any advise is welcome
    Thank you for your time

    Your numbers look Ok when using a VFD you can have a higher and lower Hz range if you need it, this will depend on what you are using your motor for, you have it set for a lower HZ RPM

    You have PD011=40 minimum speed

    PD073=60 should be 40 also

    Good afternoon. I have Model HY02D211B. I have successfully run the spindle via onboard controls and onboard POT. I have connected wires from PlanetCNC output board as follows:
    Signal and common from PlanetCNC relay to FOR and DCM
    Signal and common from PlanetCNC 0-10v variable to V1 and ACM

    My relating VFD settings are as follows:
    PD001 set to 1
    PD002 set to 1
    PD070 set to 0

    With this setup and settings, I am able to start and stop the spindle via CNC controller. However, I am unable to control the frequency via CNC controller. The onboard POT will work, but only to half speed due to PD070. I have checked with meter to V1 screw terminal that the voltage changes appropriately dependent on speed command to CNC controller. What am I missing? Do I have a bad VFD?

    Check the Jumper is on 1-2 , if the pot is active then you don't have Parameters set or the Jumper is incorrect, the pot is not active when using remote control

    Wait... there's a jumper too? Man, I feel like an idiot. Can you describe the location of said jumper?

    Never mind. Reviewing the picture I took of the wiring at the VFD terminals, I can see the jumper off to the right. Can't believe I didn't notice that before...

    No unless you know about these VFD Drives, many have the same problem with this Jumper, and other settings, but somewhere in this thread it would of been posted, there are so many posts things like this get lost

    Hi. I have not read this whole tread, so it may have been answered before, but:

    Is there any way to "reverse" specific inputs so i can use NC switches in stead of the NO switches that is in the wiring example?
    I want to set up one input as Stop and one as E-Stop and want both of these to be NC inputs. (and the rest as NO)

    Depends on what VFD Drive you have but if you have the Huanyang then you use RST and DCM for your Estop circuit and For and DCM for your Stop

    Both are switched with external Relays and are N/0 Relays they are closed to activate open for a Fault or Stop which you don't want it to be any other way

    Yes it is the Huanyang drive

    Ok. So multi-input 1 and 3 is NC inputs by default?

    So i can set the following:
    - PD044: Stop (4)
    - PD045: Run (1)
    - PD046: E-stop (13)
    - PD047: Reversed (15)
    - PD048: NA
    - PD049: NA

    And then the Stop and E-Stop will be NC inputs?

    To make the system work yes, they open to stop or for a fault, the E stop circuit will be closed only after Reset in your Control is set so the Relay is No until Reset

    The same for the stop that will be open until it has a signal to close from the control to close

    If you have trouble ( some do ) with the RST connection you should use DRV and DCM connection

    DRV and DCM
    PD050 Parameter to set

    Good evening,

    I have an HY01D511B Huanyang VFD (110V 1.5kw) and a KL-800A Spingle (220V 400Hz).

    I have it working for the most part but am having some issues with the spindle not responding to the M3 S0 or M5 commands.

    The spindle is responding correctly to the SXXX part of the M3 commands when SX is greater than 0. Meaning as long as I'm not trying to stop it the speed control command is working as expected, but if I enter the M3 S0 or M5 command I the spindle just keeps spinning at the minimum defined value (7200 RPM or 120 Hz)

    Could someone confirm the correct parameters for this VFD and spindle combination.
