    Default Trouble with model

    Hello All,

I have constructed a fixture to hold a part for machining. I extruded off the original model.
I now want to get rid of the original model and save only the fixture. I delete the model and the fixture goes with it.

How does one deal with this?

    TIA,

    FMJ

Are you in an assembly (.sldasm) or part file (.sldprt)?

You can`t delete the original model once you have extruded from it, because that extrusion is dependent of your original.
I think what you want to do is to cut in fixture with original model that need to disappear after that, I assume you have two bodies, so you can use COMBINE - SUBTRACT one from another.

Once you no longer need the original part, you can open the "SOLID BODIES" list and delete the corresponding body. See attached.
The "DELETE BODY" then becomes a feature at the bottom of your tree.
