    Default Solidcam BUG

    Hello guys,

I have just got SolidCam 2015 and I have a problem.
If I have a part opened and choose from Solidcam New->Milling, solidcam close the part and then I have this error "to create a new cam-part you must have already open solidworks document", every time I want to mill a part I must open it twice to can start the milling operation.

    Anybody have any sugestions?

    This is so annoing.

Waiting for an answer soon as possible.

    Thanks guys.

Like it says you have to have the part opened in SolidWorks first if that's what you have to CAD software. Have you tried that?

I have had that happen on occasion so I'm trying to remember what was wrong at that time. What version of SolidWorks are you using?

As I mentioned this has happened to me but only once or twice. If you get this all the time how long have you been using that combination? When I get to work tomorrow I'll see if I can recreate it on that system . I have SolidWorks Professional 2014 and SolidCAM 2013 here at home but have never seen this happen. Do you have any older versions still installed? I still have SW 2012 but I don't use it. IT left is behind for some reason. If you have any past versions I would ask you to see it it occurs with a different combo. Are you creating the files using SolidWorks and saving them and then trying to use SolidCAM? What SolidCAM settings are you using? How is your New CAM Part definitions set up? Internal or External?

Before this I had SolidCam 2013 with SW2014, and having no problem, but from few day ago when I get SolidCam 2015, I had this problem.
I have New CAM Part definition set up on External.
Even if I save the part before, SolidCam close my part and then I have that message.

    Wait for your soltion.

    Have a great day.

I would say the quick and best solution would be to contact SolidCAM tech support. This may be more of a SolidCAM 2015 problem and if that's the case then there's probably nothing I can help you with. My first question would be why did you decide to upgraded from 2013? When you launch SolidCAM do you do it from within SolidWorks or do you try to open the part first. Have you tried changing the setting to internal?

    I launch SolidCam from Solidworks.
I don't like the option of internal.

It's the same problem even with internal, because every time when I chose Mill option, solidworks part is closed and then I get that message, because Solidcam Can't see the part opened.
I just saw that if I close solidcam from Add in and then restart it, I dont have that problem anymore.

    I think I resolved it.
How? Entered in registry(window button + r -->type regedit--> in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ - rename Solidcam to Solidcam aaa, and then open again SolidWorks, remake the settings and voila

I've tryed few parts and untill now, everything si OK.

I'll come back with answer if it still does the same.

    Thanks again for help.

    Have a nice day.

    Hello,

    Still the same problem.
What I saw is when I open a CAM part and then close that CAM part, there is starting the problem.
First time when I want to start a new milling process, the CAD part is closed, needed to open again and chose the milling process again.

If I don't press the OK button whent the new CAM milling process is starting, then I can open infinited parts and no error, but as I said, If I start or open a milling operation and close it, then I must open twice the same part for making a new milling process.

This is a big bug for SolidCam.

I also maked new regs for SolidWorks, and still the same problem...

Maby somebody have a solution and resolce this problem.

    Greetings.

Maybe you should try the SolidCAM forum. I tried several things here at work but I don't seem to have the problem.

Good luck. I'll be following this thread so if you find a solution somewhere else please post back.
