could you be a bit more clear?
does the machine know the ref. point? or do you need to adjust the ref. point.
post a pic of the machine. talks easier.

re
its a eumach machine, it knows the reference point for the "z" axis if that is what you mean. i need to get the spindle orientation right for the tool pick up. similar to typing "m6" command.

Re: spindle orientation on siemens 840d
Dear all
I know its a lot of time since the port was uploaded,
But i´m having the same isue, a DMU 50 840d sl after its spindle was rebuilt,
change the position of the ref for the spindle, so it cant make tool changes,
I tried changing the M19 43240 parameter it changes just when you put m19 but for spos like in tool changes,
it doesnt keep the position, I want to know how do you fix the problem.
Thanks in advance

2. Press Menu Select
3. Press CNC ISO
4. Press CNC ISO ?
5. Press Menu Select
6. Press Start-Up
7. Press Machine Data
8. Press General MD
Changing these parameters will defeat built in safety’s for TC collision
BE CAREFUL!!!
9. Press Find
10. Type 14512
11. Press OK
12. There will be multiple 14512 parameters
a. 14512 [0] is for arm style tool changers
b. 14512 [2] is for carrousel tool changers
13. You need to make a change to this parameter
a. For arm style note current value and change to 0
b. For carrousel subtract 1 from current value
14. Press Menu Select
15. Press Axis MD
16. Press Axis+ until you see SP in the upper right corner
17. Press Find
18. Type 34090
19. Press OK
20. Change 34090[0] to a 0
21. Cycle power to the machine leaving it off for at least 30sec
22. Now you need to get the tool changer or arm under the spindle
a. See note below on how to do this
23. Install a tool holder with retention stud removed into the carrousel or arm
24. Bring the head down and rotate the spindle until the keys engage
25. Now rotate the spindle to find the center of the key slot and get perfect alignment
26. Complete steps 2 - 4
27. Write down the number that is next to SP (it will be in degrees)
28. Complete steps 5 - 7
29. Complete steps 15 - 19
30. Set 34090 equal to the value you wrote down in step 26
31. Cycle power to the machine leaving it off for at least 30sec
32. Jog Z all the way up (positive direction)
33. Press MDI
34. Rotate spindle by hand slightly
35. Type M19
36. Press Cycle Start (the spindle should rotate and than lock)
37. Slowly lower the spindle over the tool holder again
38. The keys should line up perfectly
39. If they do not than you might need to modify 34090[0] slightly
40. Jog Z all the way up (positive direction)
41. Remove the tool holder from the carrousel or arm manually
42. Now you need to move the carrousel or arm out from under the spindle
a. Opposite of the notes listed below
43. Complete steps 2 - 11
44. There will be multiple 14512 parameters
a. 14512 [0] for arm style tool changers
b. 14512 [2] for carrousel tool changers
45. You need to change this parameter back to what it was before
a. For arm style change back to original value
b. For carrousel add 1 to the current value
46. Cycle power to machine leaving it off for at least 30sec
47. Try a manual tool change and everything should work perfectly
To get a Carrousel under the spindle you will use the air solenoids mounted on the side of
the machine. To keep it under the spindle with out needing to hold it just turn the button
90 degrees and it will lock.
To get an arm style under the spindle that is air actuated there are solenoids on the ATC
that will allow you to manually move the TC around. Find the proper button and press it.
To get an arm style under the spindle that is electric you will need to unlock the brake on
the side of the ATC motor and rotate the motor with a wrench to make the arm swing
around. Just make sure the arm is fully under the spindle when doing this or it might not
look like it is lining up right.
