Default CUSTOMER MODS ON MILL TURN BENCH

A customer sent us some pictures of a modification he did to his bench. Real nice work. He used solidworks for the design and says he can supply the files for anyone wanting to make one themselves.

That looks SOLID. Well if there was ANY problem with rigidity, it's gone now!

I appreciate you posting these things JT, I have an old 12-22 I bought used in the '90's and if a couple projects work out right I hope to be upgrading!

I'd love to get a copy of the drawings for this mod. How do I get in touch?

hy just sketch a table, from profiles ( square and L, thickness >=5 ), that is strong enough to hold all your toolings + machine

on the final shelf, where the machine is, make sure that the profile is not higher than the shelf surface, or it will be harder to clean it, and there will always be chips at the corners

instead of 4, use 6 'pads' ( with adjustable height ) to make contact with the ground ( thus 2 more in the middle ), and be sure that those can handle uneven terrain, even if your floor is flat, because the welded structure may be buckled

enough ground clearance, for a forklift and/or hand pallet truck, etc

cut a few holes, to assure fresh air inside the cabinet

break sharp edges, paint it / kindly

ps : if you wish to truly go next-level, mask all the screws, and use welded nuts

we are merely at the start of " Internet of Things / Industrial Revolution 4.0 " era : a mix of AI, plastics, human estrangement, powerful non-state actors ...
