Hi all,

I'm in the process of restoring an older CNC router that has a small 8-tool tool selector. The tool selector spins on a gearbox driven by a 400w AC servo motor connected to a Teco drive unit (TSTA 20C). Both units are new and seem to work, however the setup and actually using the motor has been unsuccessful. I've followed the guidelines on Machmotion's website regarding setup of the servo both in the drive unit as well as the computer. The motor does not behave as intended- when I send a command to move such as homing the table, the motor hums but does not spin.

I've also tried jogging the motor directly through the Teco unit, to the same issue. The motor will free up and the brake will disengage but the output shaft keys to a few different locations instead of spinning normally. There is a small amount of resistance holding the shaft in place when giving a command. I have a feeling the connection between the Teco drive and the computer could be the issue, but don't know where to begin.

I'm new to working on many of these systems so I apologize if I'm missing something simple. Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated!
