1) Yes, all modern servos have built in encoders
2) Yes, in pulse & direction mode
3) Depends on the size of your machine, but 750W or 1kW servos would most likely be fine.
I am currently trying to build a lathe that has a servo spindle and has its other axis controlled by servos. Before i start, i have a few questions about delta servos. I do have to say that i do not know much about servos
-1: Do delta servos(or drivers) already have an encoder on them?
-2:Can they be controlled on position mode with one of those mach 3 control boards?
-3:How much power and torque do i need to work with wood while using 20mm diameter ballscrews?

A wood lathe?
200w servos would likely be plenty for axis.
But 200w servos usually cost as much as 400w.
You should be buying a servo set
Motor with in built encoder
Cables
Driver
Don't buy individual bits, not worth the hassle
