Buying Servo Motor and Drives on Aliexpress

Hello,

I need to buy three Delta servo motor and drive sets. I can get them at Digikey but they are also available on Aliexpress for about $2,500 less (including shipping).

What do you think? Is Aliexpress safe? The total cost will be about $5,000.

Also, what about import tarriffs? I would have them shipped by DHL but I don't know how the tarriffs work? I can't even figure out what category they would be in. Does Customs/DHL figure it out and send me a bill?

If you have a customs agency locally, you can clear your own, the forms are on line, you would need to tell DHL you clear your own, This way you can 'pick' a category of use the is the lowest import classification.
Otherwise DHL wouls issue a bill for the duty plus their brokerage charges.

I've so far had no problems ordering from Aliexpress.
Yes on large items you will be charged on entry. I bought a lichuan servo set for a spindle upgrade.
I will also get axis deltas at a later date.
Even with the import charges you can save a lot of cash.

I live in UK and buying local is ridiculously more expensive. That's if it is even available!!!!.
I've practically given up on the UK. Nearly my entire control box internals are from Aliexpress.

I initially bought through Ebay, but now I buy direct. I have made repeated (4) purchases from them and have considerable confidence in them.
They are not the very cheapest supplier on AliExpress, but are usually pretty close to the best price. They must have a pretty close relationship with Delta because they
did not have a 750W B2 with a brake in stock, so they got it in for me, took and extra two days.

Just before Christmas I bought a 750w B2 and a 400W B2 from them and it cost $285USD to freight them DHL to New Zealand....I got them in just under four days.
Not cheap but I got what I paid for.

I always thought the Automation Direct servo systems were suspiciously similar to Delta. Unfortunately they don't stock the driver/motor combination I need.

The fasttobuy website is interesting. They don't list the system I need but I'll email them and ask.

I'll probably go ahead with and purchase a single motor/driver set in a couple of weeks. I'll post back with the results.

I've bought a Delta B3 from Fasttobuy website. I'm happy.

Whilst I buy a lot of stuff from AliExpress, I generally would not buy expensive brands unless from a known seller.
