I have an interesting problem; I have been doing the Auto PID for the X and Y axes and have moved on to doing the Z axis.

I was setting the PPR as I have done on the other axes.

When I move the axis in the (-) neg direction it seem to be faster and move further than when I move it back in the (+) pos direction.

For instance - I move the DRO in the (-) neg direction 100mm, the machine actually moves about 90mm. When I move it back from that position, it only move about 45mm and noticeably slower. The distance of 45mm is only an approximation, but the DRO reads that it has moved 100mm.

I’ve had a look through the controller manual for things that it might be such as backlash compensation, but cannot find anything.

It does not give me any faults so I’m not sure where else to look.

Any ideas about where to look?

Thanks

R
