    Default Help with servo suggestions

    Hi all
    I brought a esab table
    With servo motor- gearboxes
The controls is too old, still working on floppy disc,
I have Mach 3 and stepper motors on our own table,
Could I put Mach 3 onto the esab table and use the existing servo motor-gearboxes.
It would be good if I could as these are good strong heavy gearboxes,
I just don't know anything about servo and what is needed to drive them,

The motors on esab table are,,
    SCT
    type. M642/T
    NR 9804735
    M642-1340-1208-07 TPZ
    004.639.093 X 0PZ
    Datum 1998

Anything else I would need to find out if these motors would work

I'm not able to find any information on the motor you list.

If you want to use Mach3 then I would replace the servo motors and drives with modern hardware that has the correct form factor and specs. DMM Tech servos would be my first choice. https://store.dmm-tech.com/

    Hi Jim
    Ok will check them out,
My other main concern is HF interference
The cutting source is a HT 2000 HYPERTHERM
I have been told by hypertherm there strong HF
    could destroy standard pc computer
But not sure if this HF could be blocked in any way from the computer

The HF interference generated by a plasma torch is a concern. Proper grounding, filtering, cable shielding, and cable separation is especially important when wiring up a CNC plasma. I managed to successfully do it with much less than ideal components, but I wouldn't send that system out the door for a customer, it was OK for my in-house use.

Wired properly, my opinion is that a standard PC will be just fine. Optical isolation is your friend. Reusing the original control cabinet, filtering, and cabling might be a great idea. Take special note of how it was originally protected and grounded.
