Hi All,

Firstly excuse my ignorance.. i am a noob.

My mill currently is setup as a 3 axis CNC with 3 x Shanghai Electric KT270-H-20 servo drives- Manual for the drives here = http://www.packagingmachines.co.za/f...o%20Drive).pdf
Each drive has the main power feed, earth etc then input straight into CN4 from the channel on the Siemens 808D controller, and output on CN5 direct to the servo motors.

Currently the drives are not interconnected.

Now, my controller is single channel - meaning that it cannot drive a 4th axis. So... I'm planning a retrofit , secondary control mechanism using ModBus and RS485 with Mach. My plan is MACH 4 with modbus plugin to SimplexMotionHub ( SimplexMotionHub | SimplexMotion )
Then from the hub - RS232 to 485 cable into the first drive @ Ser1.

Question - how do the drives interconnect? Can I run a straight interconnect between Ser2 port on each drive? or do I need some sort of ModBus Hub??
Axis control to the drives is one thing, but also Spindle control... this is another story ... what are people doing here??

Any input appreciated.
Thanks
