Morning all,

I have completed several machine conversions-
tree 425 MJ
Hardinge CHNC Lathe

both of the conversions were done with steppers/G203V/mach 3. for my next conversion I would like to go 320X and brushed DC servos with encoders.

I am considering the servos here High-Torque Stepper Motor, Stepper Motor, Driver, Stepper Motor kit, DC Servo Motor, DC Servo Motor kit, Stepper Motor Power Supply, CNC Router, Spindle, and other Components. Stepper Motor | Stepper Motor Driver | CNC Router | Laser Machine | 3D Prin

And these encoders- https://www.automationtechnologiesin...v-kit-encoder/

Budget is important on this conversion.

Anyone have any thoughts as to weather or not these servos (if powered by a suitable PS https://www.automationtechnologiesin...vac-or-230vac/ ) will have the guts to move the 10EE carrage at rapid speeds over 100ipm?

I will be using ballscrews 5tpi, and either a 3 to 1 belt reduction or servo reducer.

This will be my second 10EE, and as it was an air tracer model, and missing some parts, I dont feel bad tearing down this 10EE for the conversion. My 1942 round dial will remain intact and original as my primary lathe.

Hope some of you will have the time to chime in and advise a bit on this conversion!

Thanks for reading,
Nate in Ann Arbor MI.
