Default CNC Router z axis maintenance problem.

Hello, first of all sorry for my English.

I have a cnc router and my z axis had some losing height problems during operation. So i checked if the ballscrew and guide rails were clean. When i turn acme thread by my hand on some point it has difficulty on turning. I use WD 40 and some spray we call car break cleaning spray (I dont know if its same in English). I think there are some wood dust stuck in ball screw. I dont know how to get rid of it. I hope there is an answer for this problem.

The brake cleaner would remove any grease that's lubricating the screw. The WD-40 is not a replacement for it. Ball screw nuts typically have wipers on them that prevent dust from entering the ball race, but it's possible for those to fail. If simply re-greasing the screw doesn't make it work better (which it might) then removing the whole assembly, disassembling it (carefully saving all the balls, checking them for damage, and replacing them if necessary), cleaning and reassembling (replacing any damaged or missing wipers), then replacing the grease (without mixing it with anything else) would be the alternative to replacing the whole thing.

Thanks a lot for your advice. So can you suggest me a better grease rather than wd 40. If its not a replacement for brake cleaner I will need a good grease because i put a lot of it.
It makes sound when i turn ballscrew maybe its because of lack of grease or i damaged something. So i hope its the fist one

Any grease would be better than WD-40. Usually there's a particular kind that the manufacturer of your ball screw will recommend. But failing that, try a white lithium grease. Make sure the ball race is clear of sawdust and grit and all traces of WD-40 are gone before adding it. Normally there will be grease fittings on the ball nut that will fit the end of your grease gun, so you just load the cartridge in it, click onto the fitting and pump the trigger until it's full.
