Turmite,
There is an excellent tutorial thread over on RC Groups by a guy who seems to be a wizz at Rhino. It may be RC airplane related but he walks you thru drawing a model wing step by step. I thought it was some good basic info.

I have just started trying to learn Rhino {on my own} and have not had enough time on it to get comfortable. How complicated is it to import a dxf file from my cad package and surface it. Is it even possible like that or will I have to change everything anyway.

Hi Turmite,
The quality of your imported data will be a factor as to whether it will be easy or difficult to surface. If your data is good, it should not be difficult. Rhino has a lot of different surfacing tools which work very well. Some even allow you the option of constraining tangencies which yields excellent results.
