    Are we a dying breed?
We seem to skew middle age

31 here. I only hope the next few years are as progressive as the last few years.

I think you might be correct. I tried to find a graph showing the age distribution in the general population but could not find a similar one to compare easily. It is my feeling though that the younger, less than 29, age group is under-represented.

33 going to be 34 in 7 months.

Yes, we are a dieing breed. More Machinists are Retiring every year than entering. Any ideas on how to fix this? We can start lieing about our age but sooner or later that won't work, LOL.

Wink How old I am is not important

Age is not the important thing in live. As I look back on the years I have past, and there are not few I learn that age is not important.
There are a lot of young bright people out there. For those posting here about that this is a dying breed, think about what you did when you were that age(22?). Oh yeah.... I got married. That was more important then filling out a survey, right.

Well, I guess I made you think a bit. Give those cells up there a bit of a workout now and then and you feel like 16 again.

Things have changed dramatically. When I was 22 I had been a certified Journeyman for just over a year after having completed a 10,000 hour apprenticeship. This is simply not possible now.

And what was I doing? Spending as much time as possible on a surfboard.

22??????? Hmmmmmmm....... Taking Road Trips, Hitting Night Clubs and Bar Hopping. Hanging out with friends at the Beach. Going to work.

Now, spending time with family, CAD/CAM, Work, Help Forums, and thinking of new machines to program wicked parts on. Waiting for the next road trip, lol.
