Fantastic job Peter.
Already have my table built but love to see a great set of plans to think about what I could have done better.
Thanks very much.
Hello!
I will present my build of a 4'x8' Plasma table. The mechanics is my own design and the electronics is a kit from CandCNC. It uses a Hypertherm Powermax 45 Plasma cutter.
I have made a CAD model and building instructions which you can find here:
https://grabcad.com/library/cnc-plasma-16
The building instructions is also attached in this post
The mechanics consists of fixed AT5 belts, 25mm wide. The step motors is Nema 23 4,4 Nm (620 oz inch). With a 3:1 belt reduction(HTD3M belt) and a 15 tooth pulley on the AT5 belt, the motion is 25 mm per revolution of the step motor. This was the gearing recommended by CandCNC. The gantry weighs around 40 kg (excluding step motors). The linear bearings consists of TBR16 linear rail along the gantry and v-groove bearings for the gantry motion. The CNC software is Mach 3 on a windows xp computer.
