Getting modbus is a big deal. I am no software person, but I know multiple motors, pre-positioning conveyors, and wego i/0 systems all work well on modbus. Ethercat, meh. Heavy bus (one control for everything) is good for simple stuff like a mill, a router, a drill.
The wego i/o would be big. especially if we can get Planet to respond to real(ish) time feed back.

Any Plans to support VFD Control via modbus for starting/stopping the Spindle and controlling the spindle speed?
And maybe to get some informations back from the vfd?
Especially the spindle Speed is something that can't be easily controlled with own gcode as its requires changes to the S word.

Yes, this is on my TO/DO list, I plan to write tutorial for such application.
I will use a Chinese VFD for an example.

Everything needed to this is already implemented. All that is missing is tutorial.

Little update:
(pseudo)MODBUS communication control of Chinese HuangYang VFD is already in testing phase and indeed it looks promising.
We will post tutorial article and all necessary code in order to control VFD, using MODBUS and TNG software.
