Try running the install.sh script again, with root privileges. it sets some USB permissions that are required. maybe some update on the linux side messed the permissions up somehow. Rerunning the script again fixed a similar issue for me.
I have a MK3/4 build cnc mill which was working for 3 years now. Suddenly it lost communication.
The pcb is not even shown on the usb devices on the linux pc.
I tried to reset the board but the problem remains.
link LED is always on and even though the controller is selected on the settings it is not shown.
Reconnect controller also does nothing since the mk3/4 is not shown on the usb devices.
I changed the usb hub which appears on the usb devices but the mk3/4 board is not shown there.
Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!!
I tried this with no success.
I actually tested the pcb an a windows7 pc that I had, it could not be connected.
I updated the linux OS but still had the same issue.
I tried a spare MK3/4 pcb that I had that could be connected on the windows 7 pc and worked fine.
It was probably a usb issue on the pcb side!!
Thanks again
Yea sounds like a bad pcb
