    Default Planet CNC THC.

    Hi.

I have now connected and setup my Planet CNC THC.

    But I am getting a code E-1.

Do you have any info on what this is?

In case of communication failure E-I is shown on the display. Please check the optical cable is properly inserted on both sides and that the sensor device is turned on.

Both are on. The Sensor terminal has the voltage present signal (red).

I think the error disappeared now.

I have connected the cables to the input board as below:

I have setup the THC in the setup tab with input 6 7 8.

    6 THC UP
    7 ARC OK
    8 THC DOWN

I am trying to get the test function to work but nothing is happening. Have I set it up correctly?

    Error code is now gone.

THC is not working as it should.

It is connected as mentioned above.

Test function on the THC is not working. It is not moving the Z axis up or down.

When the machine starts cutting the program starts, pierces moves for 10 mm then the machine just stops. No error codes or anything. The TH I/O lamp lights up. The torch is still burning so I have to press emergency stop to stop it.

After I unpress emergency stop the machine does is not able to move in any direction. Buttons in software is unpressable. Only emergency stop is able to be pressed/unpressed. I have to restart the program to get it working again.

Don't say that TNG does not work. It works. Your problem is elsewhere.
Is THC OK signal configured correctly? Does it work is you disable OK signal?

Shouldn't I get input signals when I use the test mode for up and down?

I will try disabling OK signal tomorrow.

What does the TH light in IO mean?

TH led means that THC is enabled. This is controlled with M54.

    Ok. That's what I figured.

I ask again. Shouldn't I get input signals when I use testmode on THC for up and down movement?

Test mode will generate up/down signals but not OK signal.
If OK signal is required then machine will not move. In test mode disable OK signal.

Tried Removing OK signal and check for input up/down. But it didn't change anything.

Attached photos of where the inputs are connected.

I disabled arc OK signal in test mode. Tested with THC to move up and down, still did not get any input signals from THC for up/down motion.

Did you use G-code with M54 for testing?

    No.

You have a button where you can go through different settings on the thc. You have a test mode which simulates up or down motion. Shouldn't this trigger a input signal no matter if m54 is active or not? The inputs should still get a signal?

You falsely assume Z axis will move every time THC sends up/down signal. These are other conditions that must be met. M54 being one of them.

Why do I falsely assume that? Isn't that the intended purpose of the THC to send a signal to software to move Z axis up or down if it does not meet the required voltage?

Can you explain to me the functions of the attached pictures?

For example - if machine does not move in XY direction then plasma will burn a hole, voltage will increase, THC will send "down" signal and your torch will ram into metal.
Good software prevents this. With M54 you not only enable THC, you can also set min speed and acceleration limitations.

I am asking what the different functions that light up on your THC means.

    What does:

    Sdt on display mean?
    tSt
    AdL
    HYS.

See the photos I attached earlier.

Sdt - Set delay time from 0.1 to 9.9 sec. Time between Arc OK signal appears and generation of signals up and down is enabled. Factory setting 0.5 s.

HYS - Hysteresis from 2V to 32V (2 V step). Voltage frame around reference. If arc voltage is higher than Ref + HYS/2 then down signal is generated. If voltage is lower than Ref - HYS/2, up signal is generated. Factory setting 6 V.

AdL - Ant-dive limit from 50V to 300V. Arc voltage that disables THC. If voltage goes higher than Anti-dive limit all output signals go low. The parameter’s value must be set higher than reference voltage. Factory setting 220V.

tSt - Test mode. Only available when no arc voltage present! Pressing V or ? button generate output signals. The display indicates direction.

When you do this you should get input signal on TNG software on Up/down input?
