Spindle sync signal levels

New CNC USB controller Mk3/4 what signal levels are require for spindle encoder and index signal, ENC A, ENC B and IDX,
I presume 5v.
Does it require a negative going pulse or positive
What wave form does it require

I have been through the Planet CNC Blog and seen how to wire, been through the posts here but have found nothing,
please point me in the right direction if i have missed it.
