The ErrorPin is enabled in the input / output settings.
I did this so that all motors stop when one goes into alarm mode. The error pin is therefore connected to the alarm output of the JMC motor.
Now there is a problem with the VFD frequency converter. As soon as the spindle motor is started, the control goes into the E-Stop. What have I done wrong.
Everything is shielded correctly.
I connected the JMC motors via common cathode.

Yes. Error Pin disabled => No Problems. But I need the input so that the machine stops when an engine goes into alarm mode.
I have now found a solution. I have provided the ErrorPin input with an opto. I had done that for the other inputs, such as limit switches. I hadn't thought of the ErrorPin anymore.
Now it's working. I hope.
Before that, however, I will try a few milling.

New problem. I have now spent a good 7 hours finding out the following ...
I am now using octos. My machine has 4 motors.
Z = Axis port 1
X = Axis port 2
Y1 = Axis port 3
Y2 = Axis port 4
If I connect the ErrorPin'S Axis1,2 and 3 via opto, everything works fine.
If I connect the ErrorPin'S Axis1,2 and 4 via opto, everything works fine.
If I connect the ErrorPin'S Axis1,2 and 3 and 4 via opto, all alarm signals of the motors are ignored.
I don't know what to do next.
Do you use one opto for all 4 drivers? Can you draw quick schematics?
Error pin uses pull-up resistor.
If not inverted it needs to be pull-down for normal state or left floating (unconnected) for error.
If inverted then it is left unconnected for normal state and pulled-down on error.
I've tried both. One opto for all axes, but that didn't work at all.
Then changed back to one Opto per axis. But this only works as long as I stay with three axes.
no matter how the axis ports are defined. As soon as there are more than 3 error signals, the motor ALM signal are ignored.
I'm sure it's a bug.
Alarm Signal: OC output signal, activated when one of the following protection is activated: over- voltage and over current error.
They can sink or source MAX 8 mA current at 24 V, respectively 200 mW.
The impedance between ALM+ and ALM- is high for normal operation and becomes low when any protection is activated.

If you connect ALM+ to ErrorPin and ALM- to GND it does not work?
You can not use opto adapters in parallel. This meany you need to solve this with only one. Your image looks correct. I imagine you connected all 4 motors in parallel?
In high impendance state opto/input is floating. You need 10k resistor between input terminal and GND (on motor side).
That was the problem, which is why I wrote this article. As soon as I start the VFD Motor Spindle, the control goes into the E-Stop.
It works with two optos connected in parallel.
It works with three optos connected in parallel.
But not with four optos connected in parallel.

I tried that too, it doesn't work at all.
Control goes to E-Stop because spindle creates a lot of EMI on start. Did you install filters to your VFD? All VFDs need to have EMI filter on power supply.
Unless I missed something (or spindle EMI messes things again) this should work:
To use opto adapters in parallel resisters on them need to have different values.
I am aware that it has to do with EMI.
The spindle or the native of the VFD is connected to a filter. All cables are shielded.
Why does it work for me with 3 optos, but not with 4?
Optocoupler uses 2k pull-up resistor. When triggered it is pulled to ground.
When you have 4 of them in parallel you basically have 0k5 ohm pull-up pulled to ground by single opto. This is too much. you can even damage it.
If you want to use them in parallel you should remove 2k resistors from all optos except one.
For the first one I will only use three X and Y1 Y2 axes.
I have now ordered a 10k resistor. I will report what it showed.
Remove 2k resistors from all optos connected in parallel except on one.
You can simply cut it on one end like on picture. Remember - leave one resistor connected. If you have two opto adapters cut only one on first and both on second.
You can do this is such way that it cam be restored. No guaranties thou.
???? It's bewitched. I read from your posts that it should actually work without optos. So today I have all ALM connected again without opto and it works perfectly.
Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the error. So I don't know where it was.
