Experience with rotary tool changer on planet-cnc MK3
Hello all,
I have already one CNC milling machine with an MK2 board in use and I am pretty happy with it.
Now I am building a second one and I want to equip it with a rotary type tool changer. ( collets are stored in a rotating disk and a arm takes it and moves it to and in the spindle)
But at the moment I am not sure how to build this on the electrical side.
Is somebody around who has such a system in use?
Is it possible to controll this completely via the MK3 and scripts or is there a posibility to go over a LOGO module?
There is to controll:
- Rotation and position of the disk - servo or step motor
- pivoting of the arm (+ position sensors) - servo or step motor
- extension of the arm (+ position in/out sensor) - pneumatic cylinder
- lifting and lowering of the arm (+ position sensors) - pneumatic cylinder
Best regards,
Marc

Yes, this is possible to do in TNG. You will need to write script for M6 code. Then you use parameters for "selected tool" and "current tool" to determine what should tool changer do. There is a simple example for M6 tool change script in templates folder.
