Can't get anything to move
I have an electronics package from planet cnc. Got everything hooked up but there's not enough power going to the steppers to move anything on the machine. Any ideas?

under file, settings , motor drivers. I had to adjust the current from .5 amps to 1 amp, and the microstepping from 1/8 to 1/4 to get my 3040t to move.

Which motion control software from PlanetCNC do you use?
Values under axis coordinate value display are changing when jogging?
Is yellow tool/cone in 3D display moving accordingly if you use jogging keys?

hi
Mach3 yeh?
ok dont set your currnet tyo 1 amp - stupid idea??
right set current to t3 amps so the motor will have enough current to pull any drive.
right dont adjust anything - get a spanner and put it on the end of the axis and turn.
get a feel for the tightness.
it should be restrictive as you would expect but not over tight, smooth , and constant.
ok this will tell you a lot about your machine, if its tight - sort it!
ok so it smooth....
then rund the axis and it should be smoth and constant motor should be stone cold.
no viabrations juddering or anything just a smooth operation.
so its not....
check you motor settings
make sure you have set the characteristics up for each rive.
X and Y the same settings Z probably diffferent as its a normally a smaller stepper motor.
Axis also will be different although that comes in the calibration section
let me know how you go mate/
