Default CAN OneCNC work with my file ??

I have an IGES file that is a NURB surface developed with stacked control points that I have to split up into differant parts to import into Visual Mill and I am having a nightmare trying...... I got the OneCNC demo, and cant do anything with it,,, I thought about buying it and even sent the file to OneCNC but never heard back from them.....

Anyone want to look at it and offer some advice ?

I have a 5.5' X 16' X 1.5' part I have to split into sections to mill (from HD Foam) on my router......so I am looking for help but after not hearing back from OneCnc .... I thought Id try this forum for help

    Thanks guys

    Nine,

Post the file and I'll look for you.
Who did you send the file to at onecnc?
I have found it very rare that they don't get back to users.
Anyway post the file and I'll see if I can help.

ninewgt, Thank you. but I did not think when I posted that you were asking for OneCNC help and jumped in.

This was not proper of me to step On WMS toes.
I just saw an Iges file that needed help and started typing.

My Apploggeis go out to WMS

LoL, don't feel too bad, Cadcam. I've done the same thing when working from the "view new posts" window, where its easy to forget what forum the post was in

First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

No toes stepped on !! I need IGES file help...... I simply asked in this forum because I had recieved a DEMO copy of OneCNC and cant do anything with it... thats all...... I have to get this machined - period.... so I need help !! I was told that One CNC program could do it so thats why I got a demo but actually I found the program pretty confusing - probobly because i am used to a MUCH differant interface is all....

I am simply trying to get the file cut up so I can machine it - I have Visual Mill but it has no CAD ability - so I considered getting OneCNC..... but I opened the file in OneCNC and was lost - bad. So maybe OnceCnc can do it - maybe not but I ultimately just want to get the part so I can write - code to machine it.....

Thanks for your help and let me know what ya find out with my file

    Tom

Ninewgt, if you've got through and WMS is looking at it, you've got very capable help.

    Nice router you built, btw.

Just for interest, Ninewgt, how was the original file created? A good iges file should import easily.

Thanks - I worked hard on it...... it seems (so far) to be a great machine... I still have a LOT to learn but have been reading anything and everything I can get my hands on....

I am hoping someone can work with that file. It was developed with Maxsurf (NURBS Software for hull development) I am pretty good with Maxsurf, but when it comes to splitting, and closing surfaces... I fall a little short. I tried to do it with Rhino, and have spent MANY hours trying but not much luck..... I had to manipulate the file so much (rebuild) that it lost its shape......

So I am turning to the experts...... if I can get it split up I can easily write the machine code for it (well maybe not real easy ) =)

Thanks again guys........... man I love this forum

    Tom,

I got your file. Imports ok.

I'm up to my eyeballs this afternoon, but I'll steal some time later and see what I can do for you.

Ninewgt, I was wondering if you imported the file in the Onecnc demo, or just tried to open it? You would have to use the import iges function. Just thought I would throw that in for you to check while you wait for various replies.

    HU

I dont remember - I got the file into the program but gave up on OneCNC in short order because I couldnt open the manual on the CD - It says I was missing some system file and couldnt open it and my CNC computer is not hooked up online as I only use it for CNC stuff and CAD ( I only have MAXURF,AUTOCAD, VISUAL MILL, and Rhino on the computer......

Id REALLY like to look hard at OneCNC after reading all these posts about it and seeing yours.... but still like to see if it can work with the file.....

Someone already (and very very quickly sent me back the file (he did it in Mastercam) so I know master works with it and curious what OneCNC will do

    Tom,

Sorry, It's been one of those days. Had work backup all over the place, come to think of it, still do.

Any way I sent you back two files one a "cad" file you could open in your demo, and one an Iges.

    Good luck
