Default OSP P300S - Locating part with a turning tool

    Hi
Im trying to figure out how to execute an idea I have.Sometimes the material length varies with a few MM and I have to run either some air cuts on a few, or large first cuts on a few. I'd like to do this a better way.

My idea: Start at X200 Z10 and run a sub-program.
In this sub-program the machine will move Z- while monitoring spindle load.(Either continuous monitoring or move 0,5mm, measure load, move 0,5mm and measure until it reaches a number I choose.)
When the machine hits, lets say, 15% load I would like to transfer its current location in Z to V1 and return to a safe spot.

To do this I need two things.
    1. A way to check current spindle load.
    2. A way to transfer current location in an axis to a parameter. *****=V1
