Fantastic. I'm still planning on switching when I have some time, but I expect it will be a lot of work to get everything going.
It looks like LinuxCNC is very close to releasing a very nice GUI. A team has put many hours building what I think is a professional and polished GUI. The video demonstrates of some of the probing features. Another option for those wanting to move away from Mach3.

That looks great. I very much like PathPilot, but I do wish there were some additional probing features and routines.

I upgraded from 2.0.2 to 2.2.4 and I got the same problem when I tried to get halshow to work again (adding a missing symlink). Removing the new symlink (and halshow not working again), it started to load as it should.
Edit: This is on a lathe, not a mill, so no idea if this is different from your problem.
Hi.
I basically just compared my old hal and ini-files with the upgraded files and moved my changes over.
I think there are some more changes done to the configuration for the mill. I believe they incorporated some more safety features around 2.1.6. If you look in the PathPilot section on the LinuxCNC forum, I think there were some discussions regarding this some time ago. Or possibly it was in this forum... :-)

What LinuxCNC build are those pictures from?
They are from Probe Basic. Probe Basic is an "almost" ready GUI for LinuxCNC. Here is a link to forum page. LinuxCNC will soon have a modern GUI. Take a look at the ATC abilities. Right now I am using PathPilot but want to give this a try once it it has been made final.
