It should not take long to get it ready, I would think certainly within 3 months. For pricing, you'll have to talk to Novakon.
The UB1 is much more expensive, and would require re-wiring the machine. With a custom BOB, upgrading an older machine simply means plugging and unplugging the existing cables, making for a very quick and easy upgrade.

Ok still no update I think I'll order an acorn.
I talked to John last week for a bit, and it sounds like he's been busy getting set up in a new place. I asked about this controller upgrade, and it seemed like it's definitely still in the works. I'm planning on holding out for it for sure.

Hi Ray,
I was wondering if you had an update on the UCCNC controllers. I'm looking forward to this solution.
Micah
Have you considered PathPilot? It works very well with my Pulsar.
Steve.
I have considered PathPilot. I sort of pushed it to the back burner though. Perhaps by now the installing bugs are gone and it might be worth reconsidering. My biggest concern with Mach 3 that I wan't to eliminate is its forgetfulness. It some times loses track of its position and does weird things. My biggest concern with path pilot was the complexity of the install. I'm ok with light editing of files to get it to work but not with major stuff. I don't mind rewiring but would not want to have to figure out which files need editing and why to make it work.
What mill do you have?
I think all the files needed for the Pro have been posted. All you need is a MESA card and PathPilot. If you can't find the files start a new thread for others to help out with the files.
Steve
Ray, I am switching from Path Pilot on the Pulsar to the UCCNC 400 ETH.
It will be the first machine that I will switch over to UCCNC. I will follow up with the CRP Router and then possibly the CRP Plasma table. Then I would be done with Mach 3 for good hopefully.
Any chance that you can share the config file for the Pulsar?
How are you liking it so far?
Lee
Lee,
Reading Ray's post above, I think you may need a custom BOB to convert your Pulsar to UCCNC.
" With a custom BOB, upgrading an older machine simply means plugging and unplugging the existing cables, making for a very quick and easy upgrade.

Ray L."
Thanks, Steve.
Not sure what kind of custom BOB. I do have two older BOB's. Two that do not have the Arduino and one with it on the machine now.
I think most of the stuff is pretty simple, but the Servo spindle is what I really wanted help on. That is the part that stumped me.
I emailed John about a config file this AM. Will let you know how that goes.
I will update to this thread with the progress and outcome on the Pulsar.
Lee
It's good to see the interest here. I am looking forward to changing controllers when this solution comes out.
Micah
Right, but the Pulsar can rigid tap too, so that require's some CCW rotation. Ray PMed me and is giving me some pointers and additional help.
Lee
The UCCNC can rigit tap too.
Thanks. I was aware that it could rigid tap. Hopefully I can get the servo to be a little more reactive.
That is pretty cool though for that machine and through holes. Might not work as well on blind holes.
Lee
A custom BOB is NOT required. I converted the Pulsar by simply disconnecting the DB25 cable from the PC, and connecting it to the UCCNC. Novakon wants to do a custom, mostly passive, BOB to eliminate their custom BOB, as an easier upgrade path, so the UCCNC can pretty much plug directly into the existing cables.
