I have the USB to rs232 to rs485 to toolpath converter on an older multi cam.
Don’t waste your time. Get a new controller! I’m looking at Masso but LinuxCNC looks like a viable option.

Hi Folks, I have a M-1 Multicam Router that we purchased at auction, unfortunately the RS485 cable has been separated from the machine so we have a problem. I am quite willing to purchase the Toolpath software from the manufacturer but I baulk at paying AU$1500 for a USB to RS485 interface. I have many years experience with RS485 coms so I think that I can probably work out what I need to do to build a replacement, but I need to just see one in the flesh. Is there anyone here who owns a Multicam with a RS485 interface in Perth please?
My other alternative is probably going to be a Mesa 7i76e with LinuxCNC as I am an industrial Linux guy! :-)

Hi,
A USB to RS-485 interface should not have to cost that much.
Something such as this may suffice.
