Default Anyone heard of a Hobby 818 lathe?

An acquaintance has one, photo attached. The label says, "Hobby 818" and little else, and I couldn't find anything else on it. It has an induction motor driving a very thin belt, and plastic change gears. I gather it is similar to an Emco Compact8? I'd appreciate any information anyone has on these, particularly regarding CNC retrofits, or used pricing.

    Thanks,

    Jim

No time to do it right, plenty of time to do it twice.

    Hi,

Replying to an old post......but it's all I can find on the web re: Hobby 818.

I picked one up in rather a sorry state but as it's my first lathe I thought I'd refurb and customize it. Just wondered if anyone has any info on the 818.
