Default VM 16 X axis vibration

Not a good time of the year for a question, but here goes.

Today while setting up a job on my VM 16 I was jogging the axis around and noticed a slight rumbling sound. At first I thought it was something else in the shop, but low and behold it was the VMC.
Then there was a bad vibration. The spindle was not running. Looking at the readouts and nothing is showing any movement.

When I handwheel each axis, the vibration did not stop until I moved the X axis.
When I stopped moving the axis the vibration came back.

I did a g 00 to the part and got an overtravel fault code in X that was well within the travel.

I e-stopped the machine and restarted. Ran the same program and this time it was fine.
A couple of minutes later, the vibration was back.

E stopped the machine again and here I am with my search of a cure.
Anybody have an idea as to what to look for???
    Thanks for any help,
    Dave
P.S. Another question has come to mind.
Anyone heard from ZZZZ. He was helping guys out here quite a bit and now I don't see any posts from him in a while.
I had a computer failure and have not been around much lately and maybe I just missed his posting.

Hi Dave, you did not say what axis motors you have Dc or Yaskawa AC.
Give me a call tomorrow and we'll check a few things.

Just to bring a conclusion to this thread.
I was in contact with sportybob and he suggested to remove the X axis motor and remove the endcap and blow out the dust around the commutator..
My motor was the DC type and this has seemed to be the cure.

So this is a big thank you to sportybob once again as he has helped a lot of guys here
    Dave

And to ZZZZ Happy building to you..
