    Default Partner 6 Z-axis Issues

I am working on a Partner 6 with Z-axis issues for a friend and would like some help.

It has been a couple days since I've been in front of the machine so I don't remember the menu structure to get to it but there is a way to look at an error for the Axes. The X and Y Axes are stable but the Z Axis increases until it hits the limit (somewhere around 2500) and errors out. I have been told that this could be the motor but I want to make sure that it might not be a wiring issue that arose.

What do the error values stand for? Where is it getting it's values to compare and come up with the error?

Also, if anyone has an idea as to what could be wrong, I am open to that as well .

If you need more information, I will get it for you.

    Thanks!!

Hi Hawkins, what is happening is that you are getting an "excess" error. The following ( motor to control feedback) error has gown to a point the control says, "Huston we have a problem".

The control is not "seeing" the encoder. the problem may be 1. an encoder, 2. the wiring, 3. the Acroloop board.

    Hi Bob,

I should have updated. I swapped out the Glentek servo drive board and the following error was fixed.

However, the machine still has issues and is probably on its death bed. The owner of the machine is working on getting a scrapper out to see how much he would get to haul it away.

The problem that it is having now is that it errors out during the first step in homing. Since the Z-axis homes first, we thought it was an issue with the Z-axis. However, if we go into the parameters and make either the X axis or Y axis home first, they will also error out in the first step in homing.

I not an expert with CNC but I am pretty good at troubleshooting electronics and it has now gone way past what I am able to diagnose. It has also been looked at by another electrical engineer and a CNC specialist without a solution.
