    Default Milltronics vmg24 error 449

I bough a 1999 VMG24 got it hooked up and get a error 449 on start up. Called Milltronics and the walked me threw some stuff, had me unhook some wires and now get a 450 code. They are lost. I have to hook up 440 to the spindle drive and 220 to the rest. So my question is how do I fix or get rid of the code? I have some pictures if that would help.

I have been chasing a similar set of errors on my mill. In my case the 449 on startup was telling me that I had a drive fault - it did not tell me which drive - it could be the X, Y, Z or spindle. I was able to isolate it on mine by disconnecting the drives until the error went away. That left me with an Error 450 like you have, which I believe is the normal startup condition. It should go away when you press the reset button. I had a disconnected limit switch on the X axis that would not let the drives power up and hold in. I'm guessing they had you disconnect the drives to try to isolate which one was giving you the drive error. Sounds like they may have succeeded if you now have the error 450. I assume that you still have the wires disconnected? Do the drives power up (and stay powered up) now when the reset button is pressed and released? Sportybob has been a big help to me - He seems to know these machines pretty well.

Hi Vince, 1. did I read right you are running 440V to the machine??? I have not yet seen a Milltronics run on 440V. It needs a 440 to 220 transformer.

The 449 alarm is a drive fault alarm. it could be a n axis drive or the spindle drive. The 450 alarm is a NORMAL boot alarm, it means that the drives are not reset. This normally goes away when pressing the green reset button. Unless you are sitting on a limit switch.

If your still having problems PM Me, or call 952-288-6340 Mon - Sat 8am to 9pm central
