    Default Help identifying carbide insert

I recently got one of the Chinses mini lathes
A buddy of mine gave me a bunch of turning tools

I use mainly HSS and grind shapes so I am new to carbide inserts

He gave me a small boring bar that fits my quick change tool post
It is missing the carbide insert and the 3mm screw

Can anyone help me to figure out what type of carbide insert to buy that fits this boring bar?
I do mostly soft stuff like plastics and Aluminum and some very light steel machining

This web page was some help identifying shapes
    https://www.mitsubishicarbide.com/en...identification

It is a Rhombic shape and I measured 80 degree
So it looks like C in the chart in my screen shot from that web site above

I measured 8mm wide on the tool surface where the side of the insert side would be
But if the insert sticks out past the edge of the tool, would the insert be a 8 mm side measurement or 9 mm side?

    Measurements in my image below
    80 degree angle
    8mm side
    9mm diagonal side to side
11mm diagonal length but probably 10mm not counting the round back area
2mm height in the tool cutout pocket

    Any help here is appreciated
    Thanks

    Greetings,

Does the bar have any identification on it? This will quickly determine the correct insert.

    Cheers,

    Dave

I gave up on this boring bar.
I ordered a set of 4 bars different sizes for $17 on Ali express

It comes with 10 inserts and 4 bars
    6/7/810mm boring bars
