Nice looking work place. Neat, tidy and clean. Quite the opposite of mine :-)
Hello all,
WOW... Awesome shops that you guys have posted pics of. I am jealous.....
Steve
I may as well join, It's a mess right now...

First thing I noticed, haha
I already owned a Colinbus CNC router (Elektor advertised) - mainly used for PCB fabrication (I make my own home automation system and electronics for my H0 modelrailroad layout),
and a 50W CO2 laser (mainly used for creating H0 buildings in cardboard and acrylic housings/nameplates etc ...
Recently I got a HBM 250x550 lathe and a HBM BF-25 mill. (Which I'm currently converting to CNC)
(Both devices will be mainly used to build live-steam locomotives)
So, I had to upgrade my workshop, here are some pictures ...
This is what you see when you enter the workshop:
My self-made, magnetic, lighted, whiteboard:
(also note, Mach3 PC already running)
The blue lights are RGB LEDstrips, so I can change the colors :-)
All other lighting is dimmable (even the TL's)
My Colinbus Profiler CNC router. The 2 red toolcabinets are full with accesories for my lathe and BF25 mill.
I did put a LEDstrip above the tool-cabinets, so the light shines directly in the drawers, when opened :-)
View from the other side:
The blue thing on the left, is a self-made propeller clock: An arm with LEDs on it, rotates so fast, and blinks the LEDs, so you get the illusion that a clock appears in mid-air. (It's hard to take pictures of such a device)
My Lathe:
The electronics workbench, with drill-press and CO2 laser cnc:
Electronics worksbench from the other side. Hardly visible in the picture: my lab powersupply, electronic soldering station, oscilloscope, logic analyser, PIC & AVR programmers/debuggers ...
I bought some 5.2 NM steppers, stepper-drivers, power supplies and breakout board. (I already have a dividing table, stepper & driver for my 4th axis)
A few weeks ago, I discovered SolidWorks. After following 4 of the 13 official tutorials, (spread over 2 evenings for a few hours), I skipped the rest of the tutorials, and decided it was time to start drawing parts/assembly for my BF25 CNC conversion.
Here is a picture of the parts to connect a stepper to my y-axis:
Best regards from Belgium,
Kris

My Shop Pics
One back room has the Plasma, cnc mill, and hidden behind the corner of wall is the welding table.

Other room has entry door, and is more or less my home away from home Fridge, arcades, infrared heat, even added a couch since this pic

Rest is more or less open to accumulate clutter

Oh, New addition to my above shop... Along with curtians, blast cabinet, and other misc things. The vehicle has to sleep outside for now until I can sell my other 2 mills.
Haha, good point, I'll go tell the wife.
This is my home shop, it's for making small rc parts for my airplanes!! It's only for hobby, i'm retired and have a lot of spare time!!!
Next project is to convert my emco compact 5 cnc to mach3.

That would go for most of us who have technical hobbies.
I used to work in a large engineering/technical environment which meant that there were folks I could talk to about all manner of things that were similar interest to myself...
Now I work in middle management / IT for a smaller company I really miss the lunch-time banter about building stuff. Most of the people here have no interest in DIY of any kind it seems, and even our software developers only push buttons and physical creation is not their thing.
Just an observation, no stones thrown at any of my co-workers if they ever read this. :-)
Cheers, Chris H.
I'm always open for a beer and talking about machining!!
Well after seeing some of your shops mine pales in comparison. None the less I am proud of were I have come from in under a year. It is a 16x10 Amish built barn/shed. It was once intended for my stepfathers retirement so he could build a woodworking shop. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and passed away a few years ago. During this period the shed became a catch-all.
Last fall I cleared out a small area in the middle of the clutter to build an automatic stirrer for my popcorn popper (its for kettle corn). I posted a video of it to a friend on youtube. And recieved a call about ordering one. I now have sold over 50 of them. That opened up a whole new world. In that time I have stopped working for my brother doing metal fab and restoring classic cars (I still help him when I can)and bought the equipment I now have in under a year. I also build sifting tables and small parts for local drag racers. I now want to get into CNC to expand on some of my ideas.
