    Default Help! Dnc setting for Mitsubishi 500 series

    My friend just bought a second-hand Feeler FV-800 cnc machine (made in Taiwan) with Mitsubishi 500 series controller. I'm trying to set up DNC for him but unsuccessful. Does anybody have the operating manual for this controller or know the setting parameter for both PC and controller ( such as baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits, flow control)?

    Thank you in advance.

    Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

    Bborb:
    Thank you very much for your reply. I still have some doubts.

    1.Can I set the baud rate for CNC machine to 9600 instead of 4800?
    2. What's the parameter setting for computer serial port COM1?(I'm using Windows XP. By default, baud rate: 9600, data bit: 8, parity: none, stop bit: 1, flow control: none)

    3. In DNC software(cimoedit), there is some setting about CNC machine. Do I have to set all the parameters exactly same as the CNC machine setting which you suggested?

    Thank you again.
    Regards

    Hi koeitool,
    My DNC software came pre-configured for the Mits 500 control and the settings I posted were the default settings from Mitsubishi (I believe).
    You CAN change the settings in your machine AND in CimcoEdit but they MUST match each other.
    I would try changing ONLY the baud rate in your machine, then change CimcoEdits settings to match.
    CimcoEdit should be set to:
    9600=baud
    8=data bits
    Even-parity
    2=stop bits
    Xon/Xoff=handshake
    ISO=(if applicable)
    _
    Don't worry about what XP has settings for the comport EXCEPT you want to turn off Fifo support. CimcoEdit's settings override what is in XP's control panel hardware settings.
